How it began

The Cofan tribe lived in the upper watersheds of the San Miguel River and the Aguarico River both in Colombia and Ecuador. When the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserved was created, one of the Cofan Villages moved to a new location, and founded the Zabalo village on the left bank of the Aguarico River. While originally collaborating with the program of a mobile hotel, the "Flotel", a number of inhabitants of Zabalo decided to build and operate their own lodge and ecotourism operations, for which it co-founded and is shareholder of the PARKS AND TRIBES, an ecotourism corporation founded and operating under Ecuadorian law.
