PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION QUITO - LAGO AGRIO

Very early in the morning you will be picked up at your hotel in Quito to travel along the scenic road to the Aguarico River, passing through Ecuador's most striking waterfall, the San Rafael Waterfall, as well through the paramo (Andes meadows) of the Cayambe-Coca Ecological Reserve.

Along the road across the mountains get to see beautiful paramos and some of the world's highest rainforests along Lake Papallacta.

Clad in beautiful cloud forests, the San Rafael Falls used to be the most scenic waterfall of Ecuador, but unfortunately it collapsed into a sinkhole and no longer exists.

Overlooking Lake Papallacta is a friendly Spa which offers mineral water straight from the source without filtering it first as done in the Papallacta resorts. This is much better, because all the benfical minerals remain in the water. The prices of Jamanco Spa are very reasonable and much lower than of the Papallacta resorts.

Ecuador's almost permanently active volcano frequently pours out lava which can be can be seen glowing in the night, while tall ash plumes can be seen during the day.

  • To arrange a relaxing night in one of the Papallacta resorts (more luxurious but more costly) or Jamanco Spa (friendlier, more natural and far more economical), an extra day would be needed.

  • When taking the private transportation to the Amazon Region, it makes sense to fly or bus back or visa versa.

Lago Agrio Airport is serviced by any airline; It is possible to fly to Coca from where we organize transportation to Cuyabeno.

On a clear day you can see the Cayambe exactly on the equator, as you fly around it. When flying to Coca, ask for a window on the left; when returning to Quito on the right side of the plane.
